It's a challenge for Australia to break new ground.

The greatest achievements have long been mastered.

We're talking about the unit that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to six more T20 titles, and previously enjoyed 1,294 days without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, targeted by the record chasers, are the only things left for a side that has accomplished all there is.

That it took until Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase above 300, reclaiming their record for the largest in the female 50-over format, is, honestly, a compliment to the bowling attack that have sported the yellow jersey over five decades.

It is hard for their batters to possess a record if not afforded the opportunity.

Ultimately, the consequence of Australia allowing 330 runs was skipper Alyssa Healy receiving a platform to create her newest gem.

Initially recognized as the teenage relative of celebrated previous Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she first played in 2010 after her nation couldn't capture either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups from the prior year and has seen it all through 15 championship-filled years since.

A T20 World Cup win came three months after her bow and seven global championships have resulted from 10 attempts across formats.

The tough gloveman was present as well in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final defeat by India temporarily stopped the successful run.

That loss "motivated us to rethink our standards," Healy commented earlier.

At the following one-day championship in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the final and was awarded tournament MVP. She ensured her country would not fall short again.

Whether this recent magnificent innings surpassed that earlier display is debatable.

Certain people claim the case for the pressure of a final. Others can counter with the difficulty that comes when confronting a historic chase and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What's clear is this hundred was far harder to anticipate.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 came as she led the batting statistics, but this knock followed six innings in India since the start of last month in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"For those following me in practice sessions, it was a frustrating experience because it seemed my form was missing whatsoever," said Healy.

"However when you take the field, your fighting spirit take over and you simply focus on the match."

Healy's fighting spirit has consistently been her great strength - and a priceless quality in succeeding famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was tormented by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, out to the emerging pace bowler in all three matches, but this time it merely gave Healy's inspiration.

One run resulted off the bowler's initial ball and from there the right-hander was on her way.

"A chance to go out there and engage in competition with her and simply enjoy myself in that regard, kind of motivated me," commented Healy.

She got to fifty in 35 balls - her quickest at the global tournament - and her hundred in 84 as she punished short deliveries, scoring 21 fours and three big hits.

Once she was dismissed the team needed 66 more at one run per ball - an unconquered height now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"Chasing 330 runs is new territory so I am glad we have the assurance to accomplish that now," continued Healy.

"Hopefully we don't have to do it another time but, if we do, we believe we can do it."

Those words will be the last competing nations at this championship need to hear.

During the last week a feeling they will succeed regardless of circumstances has become more firm - this victory following win against Pakistan by 107-run victory despite struggling at 76-7 at one point.

Next Australia play Bangladesh before a match against old rivals England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a semi-final place may likely be confirmed.

During that phase they left last year's T20 World Cup in a surprising setback by South Africa - an encounter Healy couldn't play because of torn tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the first time at a major tournament.

So strong is her resolve, she afterwards commented she wished she had played despite the injury.

But while she later admitted those injuries have postponed consideration of ending her career, this tournament is likely to be her concluding event as leader in ODI cricket and she is yet to win a world championship as captain.

Success in India would take her to the summit of her final mountain.
